Light Spoilers For The Ongoing Series
Disclaimer: The comic is rated R for b00bs. It’s not in an exploitative manner and is used more for humor. But, there are nipples if that’s not your thing.

I’ve been reading this webcomic since 2014 and I’m proud of that. I’m proud to say that I’ve witnessed such a cute relationship develop between these two characters. Lillian, nicknamed ‘lazy-tyke’ for self-explanatory reasons, is a writer who gets a new roommate. Her name is ‘Roomie’, and she’s a fun-loving eccentric girl who could probably drink Valkyrie (MCU) under the table.

The story is a series of self-contained four-panel comics. There’s usually a theme going on for each chapter, sometimes focusing more on other characters like Richard & Ramona. The themes can range from gender identities to relationship boundaries. While I’m mainly going to be talking about the Romillian ship, I did want to give a nod to how everyone gets time for development.

Now, getting back to the main characters, I love how they gradually become more romantic with one another. Roomie’s sexual innuendos at the start made Lillian blush or roll her eyes depending on how ‘descriptive’ they were. As the two interact more and more, Lillian becomes more accustom to her friend’s lewd jokes. At the same time, Roomie never actually pressures Lillian into a sexual relationship. It’s not a matter of ‘wearing a person down until they say yes’ either.

Lillian being more of an introversive realist has her own funny lines and reactions to the wild antics from the people around her. She doesn’t participate in Roomie’s drinking. She initiates the kiss that begins the slow burn romance but doesn’t demand she and Roomie hook up. She does express some grievances with Roomie like her heavy drinking and being naked during less than ideal times, but the key word here is ‘space’.

Roomie is a flirt that doesn’t like labels and Lillian is okay with that. At worst, Lillian has had to ask Roomie to clarify if they were a couple or not. Which they were. Lillian doesn’t like public places or exerting a lot of energy and Roomie doesn’t make her. She nudges her in the direction of company and coming out of her shell without prying her or gaslighting her. A joke here, and a word of encouragement there. They respect these things about one another and my favorite thing is just them…talking.

Roomie talking about her latest hippie adventure. Lillian telling Roomie about her dreams. Roomie’s charming attitude is inviting and really entertaining to watch. Which helps when she’s bouncing off of Lillian’s chill ‘do I have to’ vibe. It’s a sort of ‘red/blue’ relationship that I enjoy where it’s a matter of helping the other improve their faults, but not by shaming them. They both give one another their space but don’t really enable the other’s negatives.

It’s humorous, it’s sexy, it’s cute, and it’s just fantastic.
Go Get a Roomie is my favorite webcomic and it’s because of these two adorable lesbians.
