Aaron’s Analysis: Fight Club & the Dangers Of Being Stupid.

Image
Spoilers for the movie ‘Fight Club’ (1999). Originally posted by neverfeelbad There’s this idea that being a fan of villains or by extension, toxic characters, is dangerous. While this is understandable, it’s not accurate. I acknowledge the dangers of putting certain things on a pedestal. Praising something with a lack of critical thinking resulted in actual ‘Fight Clubs’ breaking out when the movie first premiered. It’s the reason why criticism towards certain TV shows or video games are often met with a disturbing amount of negativity from their respective fan base/community. I acknowledge this, and so does the movie Fight Club. There’s a difference between a fan and a ‘Stan’. A ‘stalker fan’, is dubbed this from the Eminem music video and song ‘Stan’ about, well, just that. In the song, a fan of Eminem takes his music way too seriously and winds up creating problems for himself and others. Aaron’s Analysis: Roomillian-My Favorite WLM Couple | Go Get A Roomie/GGAR

Image
- Light Spoilers For The Ongoing Series Disclaimer: The comic is rated R for b00bs. It’s not in an exploitative manner and is used more for humor. But, there are nipples if that’s not your thing.    - I’ve been reading this webcomic since 2014 and I’m proud of that. I’m proud to say that I’ve witnessed such a cute relationship develop between these two characters. Lillian, nicknamed ‘lazy-tyke’ for self-explanatory reasons, is a writer who gets a new roommate. Her name is ‘Roomie’, and she’s a fun-loving eccentric girl who could probably drink Valkyrie (MCU) under the table. ( x ) The story is a series of self-contained four-panel comics. There’s usually a theme going on for each chapter, sometimes focusing more on other characters like Richard & Ramona. The themes can range from gender identities to relationship boundaries. While I’m mainly going to be talking about the Romillian ship, I did want to give a nod to how everyone gets time for development....

Aaron's Review: El Tigre-The Adventures of Manny Rivera

I…have no problems with this show. No seriously. This is straight up one of my favorite shows. I liked it as a kid. So, when I rewatched it as an adult, I figured my opinion would be lowered a little. Nostalgia goggles and all. I am so happy it still holds up. Guys, Gals, & Non-Binary Pals, this is Animated-Aaron’s Review of ‘El Tigre-The Adventures of Manny Rivera’ !Set-up! Explained as a part of the intro, Manny Rivera is the son of superhero ‘White Pantera’ and is the grandson of super villain ‘Puma Loco’. Thus, he’s constantly trying to be a hero but is tempted to do villainous things. Or, he uses tactics a villain would in order to stop other villains. Either way, the show is about him going back and forth between being good and bad. !The Story! There is so much creativity put into these 11 minute A & B stories. Manny is either trying to live up to his father’s respectable reputation or enjoy being like his crime loving grandfather. There’s an epi...

Aaron's Review: Legend of Korra season 1

Guys, Gals & Non Binary Pals. This is Aaron’s Review of The Legend of Korra (season 1). ! Background! The show is a spinoff/continuation of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’. Korra, the next avatar after Aang, moves to Republic city to learn air bending. However, there’s a terrorist group called ‘The Equalist’ who want the non-benders to have power and believe benders need to be taken down. So, Korra must deal with a new life as well as a mysterious villain wanting her to be a broken human for simply being the avatar. ! The Story! My main problem with the story is just how the show adds things in. Granted, the elements being brought in are fine, but as the show gets to episode 10, it’s a little hard keeping track of everything. It starts with Korra being introduced as a hard headed prodigy who sneaks on a boat from the South Pole to Republic city so that Tenzin, Aang’s son, can teach her airbending. She then gets in trouble by the police for destroying a street after stopp...

Aaron's Top 5: Pokemon Gym Leaders

Gym leaders, the trainers in charge of seeing if the player is worthy of moving on the region’s league. They range from goofy (Wake) to intimidating (Chuck), to flushed out and engaging (Elesa) to ‘I hate you’ (Grant). In any other game, their called ‘Boss battles’. Here, they’re called Gym battles. Either way, I’m listing the ones that I consider to be absolute bosses. 5: Korrina, Kalos A gym leader that you face before and after the gym battle. Hey! That’s pretty cool! Like most of the Kalos gym leaders, she isn’t that hard to beat. Korrina’s Meinfoo was able to land a few hits but I’m putting her on for her place in the story.  Gen 6 introduced mega stones which is basically a power boost and Korrina did a great job easing the gamer into the concept. Being a gym leader, it makes sense that she’d be trusted with that power. Plus she’s related to the ‘master of mega evolution’. Korrina makes sure you deserve the power she’s giving you along with a Lucario. What I like is ...

Aaron's Analysis: Tsundere

“The Japanese term  tsundere  refers to a character who “runs hot and cold”, alternating between two distinct moods: tsuntsun ( aloof  or  irritable ) and deredere ( lovestruck ). The term was originally used to describe characters who began with a harsh outgoing personality, but slowly revealed a soft and vulnerable interior over time. Over the years the character archetype has become flanderized, and is now generically associated with a character who flips between the two emotional states at the slightest provocation, and usually at a specific person rather than a general sociability problem.” – http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Tsundere ! Extremely popular in anime, this character trope actually annoys me. By ‘annoy’, I mean I loath the concept do to it becoming a disease to the medium and I’d rather the trope die so it can’t poison any more shows by dragging them down. This isn’t to say there aren’t any anim...

Aaron's Top 10: Couples

Image
Romance is one of those things that’s optional despite the idea being pounded into your head. Some days, I just wanna watch an action movie without a forced love interest sub plot. Or maybe a romantic comedy with a love triangle where the person decides, ‘you’re both awful. I’m going to enjoy being by myself.’ But until then…here are the ones that got it right in my eyes.
