Aaron's Top 10: Couples

Image
Romance is one of those things that’s optional despite the idea being pounded into your head. Some days, I just wanna watch an action movie without a forced love interest sub plot. Or maybe a romantic comedy with a love triangle where the person decides, ‘you’re both awful. I’m going to enjoy being by myself.’ But until then…here are the ones that got it right in my eyes. Enjoy! Originally posted by capturing-avatar Guys, Gals, & Non Binary Pals. This is Animated Aaron’s Top 10 Couples. Aaron's Review: Kanon

Image
This is the closest to liking moe I’m ever going to get Originally posted by dezaki Guys, Gals, & Non-Binary pals, this is Animated Aaron’s review of Kanon (2006) ! Background ! Originally posted by dezaki The show focuses on Yuichi after he moves in with his cousin and aunt to begin his new school year in a town that’s always covered in snow. As he gets more accustomed, he starts to befriend and aid girls at his school with their problems. Just as well, he remembers little details about his own childhood when he spent summers there. ! Story ! Originally posted by dezaki If you’ve ever played an RPG, then you have a general idea of how this anime works. Honestly, it’s even paced like a good one. Yuichi gets introduced to all the people he’s going to be interacting within the first three episodes. So when their arcs begin, it doesn’t seem forced. Lots of exposition in the form of casual conversation that pushes the plot forward. The situations Yuichi finds h...

Aaron's Review: Bamboo Blade

Image
This really should be more popular than it is. Guys, Gals, & Non-Binary Pals, this is Animated-Aaron’s Review of Bamboo Blade. !The Set-Up! The weekly adventures of a school Kendo club as they try to get more members as well as bond through the growing appreciation of the sport. !The Story! It’s about as simple as you can get with a slice of life, sports anime. The first few episodes are about the coach and captain trying to recruit members for a practice match against another school. The reason why is because the underpaid coach made a bet that if he wins, he’ll get free food from a sushi restaurant for a year.  Three students and a lot of exposition on the rules and style of Kendo later, they have the match. In any other anime, the coach would be a creep that hustles his students and the match would take up 4 episodes. Here, when the students find out about his bet, they shrug it off since they know he has no money. It’s treated as a joke. And it is very funny. ...

Aaron's Review: Luck & Logic

I don’t think ever I’ve watched a show that was on a such a gradual downhill slope in terms of it’s entertainment.  Guys, Gals, & Non Binary Pals, this is Animated Aaron’s Review of ‘Luck & Logic’. ! The Background ! In a world where gods and demons from various folklore can enter and exit the human world, the demons of course wreak havoc. However, they have to possess someone in order to use their powers and take on much more powerful forms. Same goes for the ‘gods’. A special police known as the ‘ALCA’ protects the streets from the monsters using goddesses to help them transform. The story follows Yoshichika as he aids the other ‘Logicalists’ in protecting their city. ! The Story ! Okay, first two things I don’t like. I mean…at all. The naming and terms used in the show are simplistic but aren’t engaging. The demons that possess civilians are referred to as ‘foreigners’. The fusion and form taken is called a ‘trance’. The powers used are referred to as one’s ‘...

Aaron's Review: Yuri On Ice!!

Yeah…so the internet has gone nuts with this show. It’s not even long, with just 12 episodes. But, it’s won the hearts of so many people, myself included. So I defiantly feel the need to talk about it. Guys Gals & Non-Binary Pals, this is Animated Aaron’s Review of Yuri On Ice! !Background! Yuri Katsuki is a 23-year-old figure skater…who just bombed a competition. Home from college, he finds a video of him mirroring a routine by Victor Nikiforov, a skating legend, has gone viral. Even more surprising, Victor himself shows up to his home and begins to coach him for the next ISU Grand Prix. Now, the two are up against other skaters looking to take Victor’s place as the ‘best skater in the world’ since he’s not competing. As the tournament goes on, the two get closer and closer developing a romance. !Characters! Normally, I do the story before the characters. But this is more of a character-driven show, so I’m doing the characters first. Yuri Katsuki, our protagonist...

Aaron's Review: Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

I originally didn’t want to watch this show because, well, it looked like a dozen other cliché romantic comedy anime I’ve seen. So after watching it, I can say that…it’s one of the better ones.   Guys, Gals, & Non-Binary Pals, this is Aaron’s Review of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. !Background! Okay, so the premise is that a computer programmer, Kobayashi, gets drunk one night and invites a dragon, Tohru (in human form), to live with her as a maid after removing a sword from her back. …anime is weird. Anyway, the series just follows their day to day lives as Tohru gets accustomed to the human world’s rules as well as Kobayashi dealing with more dragons showing up in her town. They’re not there to cause trouble. Just, see why Tohru left and inevitably, find a reason to stay in the human world. !Story! Okay, first things first. Tohru is in love with Kobayashi. That is not hinted at or ambiguous. She flat out says, “I love you sexually” in episode 1. So obviously, t...
