Aaron's Review: FLCL

FLCL was about a kid who thinks he’s being mature by not interacting with others or just being distant but in reality is masking the pain of not having his brother around due to him leaving to become a baseball player. The events that take place in the show is Naota’s call to come of age and stop being scared of breaking out of the box he’s living in.  Everything I just said was never blatantly said in the show. It’s shown visually through the characters facial expressions that can swing from strong to subtle which is a mark of top notch animation and artwork. Every frame is meant to add something. Either it’s to the story or character development. Even the South Park references. Those are just simple jokes that tell the audience a bit more about how serious a character takes something since the switch in animation for the joke is to a less detailed style.
